Innovative Transport Journal Published an Article About the Benefits of the UST Inc. Solutions in the Field of Cargo Transportation

The publication authors explained why cargo transportation using string rail transport is much more efficient than existing solutions, and also presented the description of a unicont – one of the cargo models of UST Inc. 

Today, the traditional cargo industry has exhausted its development opportunities and needs breakthrough solutions. Energy efficiency, environmental friendliness, cost-effectiveness, availability, safety, automation, the speed of creating new transport links, and low operating costs are the criteria that need to be improved. A unicont is one of UST Inc.'s cargo models of transport. This is a suspended automatic self-propelled double-rail cargo vehicle that moves along a string rail overpass. It is designed for transporting cargo containers with a nominal length of 20 and 40 feet in challenging environmental conditions at speeds up to 100 km/h.

A unicont consists of two multidirectional traction modules connected by a virtual coupling, with cargo support platforms. The mounting of a backbone-type support and coupling device connecting two traction modules is provided.

A unicont is also equipped with a high-voltage traction drive, an automatic fire extinguishing system, and a system to prevent wheels derailment from the track structure.

The accuracy and safety of the operation are ensured by an automatic system that controls all vehicle components and systems in autonomous mode. It determines the prerequisites for the occurrence of emergency situations on the way and in the transport module itself and also takes actions to prevent such situations.

The authors of the article emphasize that uniconts can be used for logistics centers, sea and “dry” ports, as well as mining sites in various climatic conditions.
